RMX Press Release: The KASINDI incidents of July 31, 2022

By Virginie Guignard Legros, présidente de REGENERATION MATRIX group

Press Release

from the Haziel section of ANGELS REGENERATION MATRIX

July 31, 2022, Geneva

Dear ANGELS, dear POLLENS, Dear populations of ITURI, of NORTH KIVU,  of SOUTH KIVU including the inhabitants of the City of KASINDI, Ladies and Gentlemen,

This morning many of you received an alert like us that false peacekeepers from UGANDA were preparing to attack BENI passing through the town of KASINDI.

We quickly got the information that the people of KASINDI had decided to block the border crossing which is on their territory to protect BENI.

We have not received information that the group was actually seen at the border. Maybe he backtracked? Maybe it was media manipulation? We don’t know at this time.

But later we received videos about a shooting that MONUSCO opened on the people who protected the barrier with their presence, with stones, without real weapons against tanks.

The messages that accompanied these videos said that MONUSCO was firing on the crowd and it was the big panic live.

And, there, what I saw soldiers supposed to defend a population, shoot at this same population because they did not want to open a barrier.

And there, I sat down this afternoon at my desk wondering how I was going to approach the subject without adding fuel to the fire, while remaining calm and reasoning. Because, I think that tonight many of you think that they have taken a step towards the unacceptable. Yes, you have the right to be unhappy, but it is also violence that you are doing to yourself.

And, as you have all experienced on your own scale, discontent and violence only bring chaos and ultimately the despair of counting the dead on both sides. If it benefits anyone, at least it is not you or your families.

Two days ago, I had a sentence that ran through my head that I share with you:

“The unacceptable is a choice and it is different from fatality which is a fact”.

For me, dying because we accidentally crossed paths with an armed group is a fact, a fatality, we could not have avoided it and we are grieving. There, we are not in fatality but in the unacceptable. Why ? because it could have been avoided and it should never have existed. It is incomprehensible.

It’s incomprehensible but it’s real. So you will have to put your fear, your despair and possibly your hatred aside because it could end badly. Think about your families at this time. It is your priority and nothing else. Don’t die in an upcoming protest. There, it is you who would be unacceptable by your behavior because it would be your choice.

I’ll tell you what’s acceptable. What is acceptable is to keep a cool head and already understand what happened to KASINDI. I can give you my opinion. The idea that I have of a situation, of a fact from the outside.

It seems to me that MONUSCO did not understand why the people and guards of the KASINDI roadblock are preventing their column from entering the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC of CONGO from UGANDA. And, these inhabitants thought perhaps to stop the entry of false peacekeepers. The regions of ITURI, North KIVU and SOUTH KIVU were  informed by social networks of this decision of the City but not MONUSCO.

If I have any advice to give to MONUSCO, it is to come and sit down humbly at the table of civil society and cities and to set up information exchange protocols in order to work together hand in hand instead of declaring a war of trust that would only multiply incidents like the one this afternoon.

Some would say I’m naive, why not if it prevents even one death. I believe in the humanity of the people of our regions, I also speak on behalf of my collaborators ANGELS and POLLENS in the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC of CONGO. But, if I know what is happening on the ground from my little Valley in Switzerland, then MONUSCO must also get there.

It’s a question of coordination.

I created REGENERATION MATRIX group 5 years ago with faith in humanity. My ANGELS and POLLENS follow my advice to rebuild networks of trust in their community where it has become rare or even non-existent. Your regions are affected by this fatality, but it cannot last for eternity. I believe that all of you are capable of creating peace. I trust.

Wishing you all to stay alive and well.
