July 17 marks the commemoration of the day of international criminal justice.
This celebration recalls the creation of the International Criminal Court, a supranational jurisdiction set up by States. in order to fight against impunity for crimes which shock and offend the conscience of humanity.
On the occasion of this attention to the situation in Kasai, whose serious atrocities committed between 2016 and 2018, during the armed conflict between the militiamen and the defense and security forces are documented in the Report of the Team of Experts Internationals on the Kasai.
Also, given the inability of the Congolese courts to establish criminal responsibilities in the 23 emblematic and priority cases, it recommends that the central government refer the situation in Kasaï to the International Criminal Court.
In the meantime, everything passes, except the tumultuous and painful past mocking the deep wounds and the tears of the victims.
