Provincial Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission: “one year later. What is the balance sheet?”
15 July 2021 – 15 July 2022, the Provincial Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission created by Edit 06/ASS – PROV/ KC/ 21 has completed one year of existence.

This truth-seeking mechanism will enable Kasai Central to confront its painful and tumultuous past characterized by serious human rights violations committed during the armed conflict between elements of the Kamuina Nsapu militia and the defense forces.
This pillar of transitional justice will also make it possible to dispel the ghost of the past and build peace, a guarantee of development.
The evil committed in the region must be absolutely averted, in order to say: “never again” and to fight against amnesia.
Central Kasai must resolutely engage in the fight against impunity to restore the rule of law, because impunity symbolizes the triumph of lies and oblivion.
A year later, the Congolese Society for the Rule of Law notes that this Commission is still not operational.
The process of its implementation is blocked at the level of the investiture of the commissioners selected by the ad hoc Committee.
At this crucial and monumental moment when the Kasaian centers are more than determined to write their own history, the SCED salutes the provisions and the political will of the new governor to appropriate the mechanisms of transitional justice.
She urges him to operationalize the CPVJR.
Faced with the many challenges facing the Commission, the SCED urges civil society actors to play their full role in supporting the process. It makes a plea to the international community for technical, material and financial support from the Commission.
Finally, it recommends that the central government develop a holistic national strategy for transitional justice.
In the meantime, everything passes, except the mocking past of the deep wounds and the tears of the victims.
