Declaration of the Kasaian Centre for Transitional Justice Network on the Occasion of the Closing of the Awareness-Raising Workshop for Civil Society Organisation on the Provincial Truth, Justice and Reconlliation Commission

The Kasaïen Centre Network for Transitional Justice welcomes with great satisfaction the holding from July 14 to 15, 2022 of the awareness-raising workshop for civil society organizations in Kananga on the Provincial Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission, CPVJR as part of the awareness campaign to mobilize various layers around the support of this body in its work; this at the initiative of the UNJHRO;

The Network Congratulates the UNJHRO for this initiative, the Civil Society Organizations having participated in these exchanges through their delegates as well as the presence of the Director of Cabinet and representative of the Provincial Minister of Justice;

For the Network, far from being a simple formalism, the presence of all these actors is interpreted as their availability and the will to accompany this body, the better the body creates; While reiterating its commitment to continue supporting the work of seeking the truth and inspired by the resolutions of these two-day meetings;

The Network makes the following recommendations:
-To the Provincial Government to demonstrate its willingness to initiate transitional justice mechanisms by accelerating the effectiveness of the Provincial Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission;
-To the Provincial Assembly and the Provincial Government to grant a sufficient budget to the CPVJR;
-To the UNJHRO and other organizations of the United Nations System to continue their support for this process through the strengthening of communication and the training of actors around the work of the CPVJR through logistical and financial support; media and other channels);
-To the civil society actors of Kasaï Central to appropriate the mechanisms of transitional justice by forming a synergy around this theme by arousing a broad adhesion of the various layers of the population to the process and to make a regular follow-up.
